MARANELLO, Italy (AP): Ferrari president Luca di Montezemolo has issued an ultimatum for the team to improve its performance following a disappointing start to the Formula One season.
Montezemolo tells the team's website that "this cannot and must not be the team's level."
Ferrari's performance has worsened in each of the three races thus far, with the team's best result coming at the season opener in Australia with Fernando Alonso's fourth place.
In Malaysia, Felipe Massa led the team in fifth, followed by Massa's sixth-place finish in China on Sunday.
Montezemolo adds that he expects "our engineers to act with determination and know-how" and to "improve the performance of the car in a short time."
The next race is the Turkish GP on May 8.
